The Mounjaro effect…

So you’ve finally reached your desired weight, or maybe you are on a journey towards hitting your goals.
It’s an incredible feeling finally losing weight after years of maybe struggling and lots of people are now turning to weight loss injections to help shed the excess. Love them, hate them or disagree with them, weight loss injections can be life changing for people who have possibly spent most of their lives living with obesity.
The feeling you have as the “Food Noise” becomes quiet and you start to make sensible food choices, feel better within yourself, and have more energy is transformational.
BUT there are side effects to weight loss especially when it happens rapidly, these side effects can burst your bubble a little but there are options that can help you, thinning hair, loss of hair, lose sagging skin, facial ageing and loss of facial volume are sometimes part of the Mounjaro effect.
Fear not though, there are many treatments that can help with these concerns, treatments that you can start during your weight loss journey or when you have finished, our advice would be it’s always best to make these treatments part of the journey plan, along with taking vitamins and nutrients to support you along the way.

So let’s start with hair loss/ hair thinning which can also be a concern post menopause, post pregnancy and as part of the male aging process. There are several treatments available for hair loss and thinning, Iprf is one of our favourites, using your own blood (taken like a blood test) it’s spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma and fibrin, the platelet rich fibrin (prf) is then micro injected back into the scalp, stimulating your stem cell production, promoting and stimulating thicker, fuller hair. 3-6 treatments are recommended 4-6 weeks apart. You will start to notice the changes in your hair growth within 10-12 weeks. This treatment is a game changer for anyone experiencing hair loss and thinning hair which can have a massive emotional impact. Another results driven treatment is Polynucleotides, this is salmon DNA that is injected into the scalp, stimulating collagen and elastin, again working to stimulate stem cells and helping to promote stronger, thicker hair.
If you don’t like the idea of having any little injections in your scalp you can have microneedling which is still an incredible treatment. Or for a totally pain free treatment you can choose the Hydrafacial scalp treatment – Keravive. Kerastase genesis range can be used at home to compliment your in clinic treatments.

So now we have helped the hair let’s take a look at your SKIN……”The Sag” now this can be really disheartening, you’ve lost weight, you feel great, you look fab when you are dressed, but behind closed doors you see the bingo wings, the hanging tummy, the wrinkles under your bum cheeks (who knew that was a thing?!) knees and elbows have a skin over hanging them and you can feel less confident suddenly than you did when you were heavier.
There are many skin tightening treatments available but one of our favourites is Exion for the face and Body, recently Karen Brady has been among some of the stars raving about Exion Body that she has had to treat her upper arms. Using Radio Frequency to gently warm the skin and stimulate your collagen and elastin production, and Targeted Ultra Sound to stimulate Hyaluronic Acid by 224% this treatment helps smooth and tighten the skin.
Other treatments we love are Polynucleotides and Microneedling, you can add Exosomes into your microneedling treatments to deliver a more effective response to stimulating collagen and elastin.
Faces can feel like they are melting off of you and this can happen through simple aging alone but can be more noticeable through weight loss. Fat pads in the face deplete often revealing flattened cheeks, deep lines from the nose to mouth, a down turned smile and a more noticeable jowl droop. Well placed Dermal Fillers can help to restore these areas where fat pads have depleted and help to lift your face back up again and soften some of those creases that have formed.
So congratulations on your weight loss, enjoy your new found image, embrace the way you look and feel and if there are tweaks you need to help you feel even better then we are here to help you with your continued journey.
